I think it was an old slogan for Heinz Ketchup or something like that, where I first remember hearing 'Good Things Come to Those who Wait.' Well, if that truly is the case, both Yellowstone National Park and I have benefited tremendously from my most recent trip. That's because both of us have waited it out patiently for the last 42 years for me to make my first foray into "Geyserland." 

Oh boy! I think I can already smell the deep-fried goodness and sense all of the goose-pimply giggles that I am about to receive from the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo. Oh yeah...it's go time!

Things are really starting to heat up in Casper. Not only is the weather great at the moment, but rodeo season has hit as we welcome back the College National Finals Rodeo. It's the 14th year that these wild and woolly young cowboys and cowgirls have descended on our city, and to make them feel even more welcome, we have a little present.

The College National Finals Rodeo is just beginning its winning ride this week at the Casper Events Center. The action is sure to be fierce, the scores high, the stock ornery, and there's been a lot of talk behind the scenes that us spectators never get a chance to hear...until now.

Congratulations, everybody! You've made it through another long week and we couldn't be more proud of you! But before you start sipping cold ones, lighting the grill, getting together with the neighbors, lining up plans, and turning up the music - take a second to confirm your suspicions about this week's contest.

Hey Diary! At last, I am a married Cowboy Troy! It feels like it's taken years...several long, exhausting and burdensome years, to get us to this point. I know I mean to exaggerate about our engagement when I put it that way, but it really is true to a certain extent and in a different context. However you choose to take it, I'm just glad it's over!

First, let me say that it wasn't nearly as difficult as jumping into icy-cold water in February. Still, it was a challenge!  My better half talked me into getting up early last Saturday to assist our friends at Special Olympics.
