The images we've been seeing and the stories we continue to hear are nothing short of mind-numbing.  In the wake of the cataclysmic  disaster that Japan is faced with, we truly cherish any good news that we can report.

That lead us to Hiromitsu Shinkawa.  Hiromitsu was just rescued after spending two days at sea; floating on the roof of his home, which just happened to be 10 miles out.

The U.K. Guardian is reporting that the 65 year-old was in good condition after the rescue and was able to credit "good weather and calm waters" for his survival.

As the events unfolded, Hiromitsu had started to flee the approaching wave, but returned to retrieve some items.  Then in an instant, he was swept away.

With such a horrific event; we wouldn't even think of calling this a happy ending, yet.  Hiromitsu's wife remains one of the tens of thousands missing.  It is however, a remarkable one.  Thoughts and prayers continue.
