Cheyenne police have identified the four-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a pickup at the intersection of E. Lincolnway and Converse Avenue last (Tuesday) night.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says Aiden Mullinax and his mother, 31-year-old Ashley Nowlin, were walking north in the crosswalk shortly before 5:30 p.m., when a pickup headed south on Converse Avenue made a left-hand turn onto E. Lincolnway and hit them.

"Mullinax died on scene from injuries he sustained during the crash," said Malatesta. "The mother was transported to CRMC for treatment."

Malatesta says "there's really no indication at this point" that the driver, Christopher Wetherholt, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but "chemical tests are being done to make sure."

"He was cooperative, stayed on scene (and) provided information to the police," said Malatesta. "We did have numerous witnesses who were there as well and provided statements."

"No tickets have been issued at this time (and) no arrests have been made," Malatesta added.

The accident remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
