Barring any 2000-like uncertainty, we will know who won the 2012 presidential election by Wednesday morning. Whether Mitt Romney or Barack Obama emerges victorious, just about as many Americans will likely be disappointed by the result as delighted by it.

In fact, according to a new survey from Consumer Reports of 1,013 adults, a good chunk of Americans say that the outcome of the election will have an effect on their holiday season, which is just around the corner.

Thirty-three percent answered that Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s will be merrier than usual this year if their preferred candidate wins on November 6, and 31 percent said that they will be more bummed out than they typically are come the holidays if their man doesn’t take the White House.
