How Manual Cars Keep Wyoming Vehicles Safe From Thieves
Are you looking for a good way to keep some people from stealing your car or truck? Buy one with a manual transmission. There were fewer than 100,000 new cars sold in the US in 2024 with a stick shift. Let me stop to mention that in Wyoming, the number of drivers who can drive a manual transmission is likely higher than in other places. The AG community has a high percentage of manual-transmission vehicles, so the ranch and rodeo kids are likely to have a leg up on the city kids.
Even though there isn't a special "manual transmission" restriction in Wyoming, meaning that if you pass the driving test with a manual or automatic transmission, you'll get your license. Still, I think you should get extra credit. Maybe a one-time-only "get out of a speeding ticket" memo can be added to the statewide computer system if you pass the test while driving a manual transmission.
