Wyoming’s One Of The Top 5 Charitable States
We've seen it firsthand; how much Wyomingites take care of their own. Especially as we are getting toward the end of our annual "Stuff The Van Toy Drive". Every year, for the last 26 years, Wyomingites give toys, money and love to others during the holiday season, but that's not where Wyomingites stop.
There are very few "Grinch-like" people in Wyoming.
In 2023, Townsquare Media's Thankful Thursday was able to work with 23 different charities and raise over $250,000. A quarter of a million dollars, donated by Wyomingites, for Wyomingites and all just to make sure Wyomingites are being taken care of.
This year's statewide day of giving, WyoGives, raised $4,033,416. That's 6,730 Wyomingites, helping 326 different organizations.
There's no doubt that Wyomingite's giving hearts would land us in the Top 5 of most charitable states in the country.
Wyoming's population may be the 2nd lowest in the country, but unlike that mean old Grinch, already has a heart that's larger than most.
According to a new study, Wyoming comes in at #2 out of the 50 United States in total for charitable states. When it comes to being charitable, it's not just giving money, but time, blood, sweat and tears, too.
Wyoming has the third-highest number of Feeding America food banks per 1 million residents and the most charities at 47.41 charities per capita.
Wyoming ranks #1 as the state that volunteers and offers services. Think of those that volunteer their time to work in soup kitchens, thrift stores, or missions, also those that lend their craft skills to help build community gardens, repair buildings, or build houses for those in need.
Wyomingites are a rare breed that are always available to lend a helping hand or extra money.
This year our "Stuff The Van Toy Drive" is looking to help over 1,000 kids. Kids whose parents have hit a rough patch and need a little help making sure their kids have a great Christmas. Just like as in years past, Wyoming's showing why our ranking is so hi on the list of charitable states in the US.
Here's a look at how all the states ranked.
