Winter snow showers bring spring street repairs.

The City of Casper next week will being fixing the potholes that have pocked the streets after the storms that blew through central Wyoming recently, according to a news release.

Potholes are created when water enters cracks and then freezes. The expanded ice can break concrete and asphalt. Many potholes have been forming gradually over the last few months, but they are only being revealed now as the ice has begun to melt.

The city usually focuses on pothole repair in the spring. Street crews need several months to find and repair them all.

The upcoming week of warm weather will not be enough time to fix every pothole in the city, but this brief period will give street crews a chance to deal with some of the worst ones.

Residents may report potholes by calling the streets division at (307) 235-8283.
