The 54th running of the Daytona 500 was a record setting race. Not only due to race delay, but also for the total length of time it took to get the race in the books. Some firsts were good and some were not - like Juan Pablo Montoya crashing into a jet blower truck on lap 160.

Fortunately both the driver of the jet truck and Montoya were in good health after the accident. But for NASCAR fans and those who witnessed the wreck, it was one of the most bizarre things to ever happen on a race track.

After the clean up, the final 40 laps were run and when the dust settled it was the #17 Best Buy Ford of Matt Kenseth that crossed the finished line first for his second Daytona 500 victory.

It was a great start to the 2012 race season. A season full of hopes and dreams. A season that looks like it could be filled with excitement, week in and week out.
