Here’s How To Recover From A Wild Wyoming Weekend
Toby Keith said it best
I aint as good as I once was
As I get older, I feel those lyrics more and more. Long, hardworking weekends prove that right.
I remember being 21 and could work 12 hours, head out with friends, then wake up and do it all over again the next day.
Now, I go to bed at 6pm and occasionally leave the house after I get home.
This past weekend was action packed. Early mornings, long days, and late nights. It's not as easy to bounce back as it was when I was 21.
With that in mind, I'm sure you can relate to that too. Spending time getting more exercise than normal, drinking a lot of beer, eating foods you normally wouldn't eat or maybe doing extra work around the house or ranch, take more of a toll on you as you get older. Sometimes it may take you more time than normal to recover from your wild weekend.
This past weekend was our Summer Festival and that meant helping setup, helping during, helping breakdown and helping unload. I try to stay busy and never shy away from heavy lifting, it's just sometimes not as easy as it used to be.
When you're getting back into the swing of things, after one of those weekends, may be hard.
Here are some thing you can do to help you get back on track.
- The thought of waking up early is hard to do, but it's best to get back into your routine. The earlier you get out of bed, the more time you have to get stuff done.
- Grab a little exercise. Doesn't have to be anything wild and crazy, a quick walk will really help get your motor runnin'.
- Starting your day with an extra little kick is really the best thing to do, coffee/tea/soda may help. Most definitely make sure to drink lots of water, staying hydrated is important.
- Don't rush into your daily tasks, keep a steady pace, but stay focused.
- Remember to eat. You body needs the nourishment to recover.
- Make a to-do list. Having a list will keep your daily routine intact, also will help you keep you from forgetting important things you need to do. If you make the list your 'Goals' list, you may be a little more determined to cross them off.
- If you need to nap, make sure it's a short one. Sleeping too much during a nap will most likely mess up your sleep routine. It's important to get back on your normal routine.
Good luck getting back at it.
