Each year, the City encourages its employees to participate in the United Way’s annual fundraising campaign. This year, employees of the City of Casper are coming together in a variety of ways over the next two months in order to benefit the United Way of Natrona County. A committee of City Employees has organized an Auction that will be held online the week of September 8, 2014.

Organizers have gathered over $5,000 worth of products from local businesses. A sample list of items include: gift certificates for restaurants, health and beauty services, photography, event tickets, vacations, recreational activities and supplies, and more!

The public is invited to log on to www.CasperWY.gov beginning at 8:00 am on Monday, September 8th through September 12th at 3:00pm to check out a complete list of auction items and participate in the auction.

MORE ABOUT THE UNITED WAY

The United Way annually funds 28 local social services agencies that support local residents in need. Examples of these organizations include:
Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies
Children’s Advocacy Project
Casper Youth Crisis Center
Boys and Girls Club
Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts
YMCA

Just last year, the United Way was able to turn $400,000.00 of donations into $2.9 million of state and federal grants that continue to fund programs in our community. These funds have a direct impact on our city. For example, United Way of Natrona County partnered with Natrona County Meals on Wheels to help provide more than 181,000 meals this past year to over 850 homebound senior citizens and other individuals. This service is vital in helping individuals continue living independently in their own homes. Doing so saves them and their families from the expense of assisted living facilities. Those costs average $4,000.00 a month, in total, saving them and their families more than 3 million dollars each month. This, among many other examples, is the type of project that makes Casper a wonderful place to live.
