Casper-Natrona rebounded from a big loss to Cheyenne East last week in 4A football to grind out a 14-13 victory over Cheyenne Central on Friday at Cheney Alumni Field. The Mustangs took advantage of a Central fumble in the first quarter and turned it into points as quarterback Trig Berens got into the end zone from the one to give Natrona a 7-0 lead.

The Mustang's defense forced yet another fumble and this one was returned for a touchdown by Tim Edmondson and that play covered 40 yards. Just like that, Natrona led by 14.

The Indians got back into the game on a 2-yard run for a touchdown by quarterback Miles Porwoll and the Tribe kicked a field goal in the 2nd quarter to trail by 4 at the halftime intermission.

Cheyenne Central kicked another field goal in the 4th quarter to cut the gap to 14-13. Natrona survived an interception and killed some clock to seal the win. NC is 2-1 and will face cross-town rival Kelly Walsh in the Oil Bowl on Friday. Central who got over 200 yards rushing from Mason Counter sits at 1-2 and will host Thunder Basin on Friday.
