As an avid reader, I find myself always on the lookout for new authors.

Recently I was perusing the internet when I came across a newly published non-fiction book written by a woman that lives right here in Casper.

Debra Moerke currently works and lives in Casper and she wrote her book "Murder, Motherhood and Miraculous Grace" in the hopes that sharing her story would bring healing to our community.

When Debra Moerke and her husband decided to become foster parents, they never imagined how their lives would change. Debra became especially close to one little girl: four-year-old Hannah. She loved her and did everything she could to help Hannah learn to trust and teach her to feel safe. But when Hannah went back to her birth mother, Karen, it wasn’t long before one of Debra’s worst fears came true.

Overwhelmed with horror and grief, Debra didn’t think she could take anymore, but then she received a phone call from prison. Karen, facing a life sentence, was pregnant, and she had a shocking question to ask . . .

This true story happened right here in Casper, and that fact makes this book an emotional and gripping read.

Anyone that has a heart for foster care or adoption can relate to the powerful and honest stories that Moerke shares. When you add to that her raw descriptions of her struggles with following God's plan for her and her family...I'm not ashamed to say I was brought to tears several times.

Debra Moerke was able to come in the studio and talk a bit about her book, you can hear the full interview below.

Debra Moerke will be holding a book signing at Wind City Books right here in Casper on Saturday,  November 30th, from 1:00-4:00.
