
The Science Behind Why Naps Are Great For Wyomingites
You know, they say that in life, everything comes back around. When you're a baby, you wear diapers. When you're old, you wear diapers. When you're a baby, you can only eat soft foods. When you're old, you can only eat soft foods.
See, it's the truth.
Another one, when you're a baby, if you don't get your nap, you become cranky. The same thing when you're old, if you don't get your nap, you become cranky.
Napping is one of those things that I'd like to be able to partake in, but if I nap in the middle of the day, I can't sleep at night. If I do get a nap, it can only last 5 to 7 minutes.
I'm what I like to call a "Power Napper."
I've found some information from a 2023 study in Sleep Health that makes me think I need to start napping.
Researchers found that people who nap regularly have larger brain volumes, which is linked to better memory, learning ability, and slower mental decline. Naps are also known to reduce stress, blood pressure, and protect your mental health.
The research also says that if you're a regular napper, you're likely to live 6.5 years longer thanks to naps.
If you watched 'Duck Dynasty,' you remember that Uncle Si talked very highly of getting in a good nap. I think now, we all can agree that it's a good idea.
If you're going to start taking naps, there are a few things to do.
Find your napping place - Cool, dark, and comfy.
Block out the proper nap length - According to researchers, 20 to 30 minutes is the perfect nap length.
Pick the right time - The best time for a nap is ideally between 1 and 3 pm. Obviously, you'd want to adjust that to your regular bedtime. If you're an early-to-bed, early-to-rise type of person, you don't want to get too close to your bedtime for a nap.
