Discover How Casper Is Building Beds For Children In Need
Have you ever stayed at someone's house and didn't have a comfortable bed or didn't have a bed at all? It's not a pleasant experience, and you look forward to slipping into your comfy bed when you get home.
Imagine not having a comfortable bed to slip into. A good night's rest is essential for your body to heal, focus, accomplish daily tasks, and maintain a positive mood.
You would be surprised to know how many children in the Casper area don't have a comfortable bed or any bed at all. That's why Sleep in Heavenly Peace - Casper embarked on a mission to ensure every kid had a bed and no kid had to sleep on the floor.
Since the Casper chapter began in 2023, over $80,000 worth of beds have been distributed to families throughout the Casper region, and SHP receives requests for beds on a weekly basis.
In April, SHP received over 20 requests for beds and delivered a record amount of beds.
Sleep In Heavenly Peace Casper is a volunteer-based organization that builds beds by hand and delivers them with a mattress, pillows, sheets, and a custom quilt.
If you're interested in being part of a bed build, on Saturday, May 3, the group will be at Casper College's wood shop, located on the backside of the Werner Technical Building, beginning at 9 a.m.
Volunteers are needed to build 25 beds to fulfill upcoming requests for beds. If you have carpentry skills or not, you're welcome to show up and volunteer. For more information or to volunteer, you can contact John Webb at john.webb@shpbeds.org
